Inaugural ceremony (8 th Nov,2019) St Joseph's Institute of Management(SJIM) conducted its annual national level management fest, Verve on the 8th and 9th of November 2019. The Verve team invited participants to take part in eight exclusive domains,viz; Best Manager, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Operations, Photography and Business Quiz. The number of teams that participated this year was 15, including 5 outstation teams. This year, the theme that was inculcated in the event was “Vyuha- Battle to Survive”. The program kicked started with the sacred lighting of the lamp and an invocation dance. Prof V J Lawrence, the faculty coordinator for the event then welcomed the gathering motivating all the participants to take part sportingly in the two day battle. Our Director, Rev. Fr. Dr Manoj D'Souza SJ, spoke on the importance of participating and taking memories as an experience from such platforms. Our most esteemed chief guest, Mr Antony Phillips, Executive Vice President, HDFC Ergo Insurance Ltd, further took the stage and shared his thoughts about career goals to all our budding managers which was enlightening and inspiring. The program ended with the vote of thanks by Ms Supraja and the lighting of the baton which was carried out by Student Coordinator, Jopaul Roy, and team.
Valedictory Function (9 th Nov,2019)
The cultural events at SJIM are always larger-than-life ! After the Best Manager final round concluded, the cultural function began which was hosted by Ananya and Evita from 1 st year. The audience swayed to the tunes of the SJIM Band and were captivated by the dance performances by both the classical duet performance as well as the dynamic Dance team. There was colour, pomp , energy and enthusiasm in the air as everyone geared up for the final valedictory ceremony to know who the winners were.
The two-day national fest, Verve, came to an end with the final valedictory function. The hosts for the evening were Roshini and Aileen. The Dean, Dr. R Narasimhan , addressed the gathering and thanked all the colleges for their participation and for making Verve a success. Our Director,Dr Manoj D’Souza congratulated all the participants and the eventual winners . He also lauded the efforts of the Verve organizing team.The Chief guest for the evening was Mr. G S Raghu, Vice President , Quality, Safety & Environment at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages P Ltd. He is a Supply Chain professional with more than 3 decades of experience especially in the FMCG sector. Mr Raghu encouraged and motivated the young audience on making their area of interest strong instead of just working in a company for the sake of earning salary. Post the chief guest’s speech, it was finally time to give away the awards. The list of winners and runners up were as follows: -
