The students and staff at St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) were fortunate to interact with Fr. Oswald ‘Ozzie’ Mascarenhas S.J., Ph.D., JRD Tata Chair Professor of Business Ethics, XLRI, Jamshedpur on 8th June, 2017 at the SJIM campus. With his priceless experience and interesting stories , Fr. Ozzie in his two-day session for the 2nd PGDM students discussed the importance of productive thinking and trust in a corporate setting.
We live in a day and age, where the questions in front of a manager are immeasurable. To make sense of the situation with available data, Fr. Ozzie advised productive thinking is the key. He emphasised the fact that it helps avoid quick-fixes resulting in creative, useful and long-term effective solutions.
Fr. Ozzie stressed the importance of trust in simplifying situations as organizations become more and more complex. He weaved his talk with interesting stories which kept things joyful and light.
Fr. Ozzie’s infectious energy and his ideas created a lasting impression on the students. His talk made the audience, the managers of tomorrow, realise that difficult situations are a test and with productive thinking, there will always be a solution.
