Rev Fr. Francis Guntipilly SJ shared his insights with the students, faculty and staff of SJIM on Ignatian Pedagogy on July 28, 2017 to celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
His presentation included important characteristics of Jesuit education and a discussion on the 5 elements of Ignatian Pedagogy. He spoke about how the Ignatian pedagogy uses the teacher to lead a learner on a journey towards the truth. The Ignatian Pedagogy in practice consists of experience, reflection and action. He emphasised the importance of one's education enabling competence and the ability to act according to one’s conscience.
The first year’s enacted a skit depicting the life of St Ignatius of Loyola.
The second year students performed a parable on The Prodigal Son, a depiction from the Bible.
