The foundation day was observed on the 23rd of November 2017. The students who excelled in the academics or otherwise were presented with scholarship. The Management believes that these students can utilize the scholarship amounts to gain additional knowledge and certifications to help strengthen their profiles.
Amongst the dignitaries for the day were, the chief guest, Mr. B Muthuraman, Former Chairman, Tata International Ltd, Former Vice Chairman, Tata Steel Limited; Rev. Father Anthony Joseph, Rector, St. Joseph’s Institutions; Rev. Father Jason Furtado, Secretary & Treasurer of Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society; Rev. Father Manoj D’Souza, Director, St Joseph’s Institute of Management and Prof. Edwin Castelino, Dean, St Joseph’s Institute of Management.
Mr. B Muthuraman in his message stressed the students to focus on all round development and not just on academics. Although he stated that education is important, his advice to the students was to seek development in their passion towards their goals.
On commencement of this solemn occasion, Parents, Professors and the Management expressed their pride for the 63 students both from the first and second year PGDM course. Amongst the recognitions was also a special award that was issued by the management for recognizing efforts of students beyond the regular call of duty. Vineeth Shiyal was recognized for helping initiate 4 Toastmasters clubs at SJIM in the year 2017. The Toastmasters club is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. This initiative is believed to enhance and sharpen the soft skills of students in public forums.
The St. Josephs Institute of Management has a deeply rooted spirit of striving for excellence. The Institute believes that this scholarship program brings out the best in their student and vows to execute this program on a larger scale in the near future.
