World Environment Day 2025 at SJIM

St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) marked World Environment Day 2025 with a series of impactful events aimed at promoting environmental awareness, innovation, and community engagement.

On 5th June, first-year PGDM students participated in a business plan competition to develop sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. The winning team proposed cellulose-based milk packaging as an eco-friendly solution, judged by faculty experts including Prof. V. J. Lawrence, Prof. Suresh Herur, and Dr. Komal D’Souza.

On 6th June, a prayer service invited reflection on environmental responsibility, followed by the inauguration of an herbal garden by Director Rev. (Dr.) Roshan Pereira SJ. Faculty, staff, students, and campus teams joined together to plant herbs, symbolizing SJIM’s commitment to integral ecology.

The week concluded on 10th June with a city cleanliness drive across MG Road, Mayo Hall, and Brigade Road. Over 60 student volunteers raised awareness about plastic pollution through public engagement and a dynamic flash mob. The event was flagged off by Dean Dr. Rajiv Noronha and supported by the Director, who linked the initiative to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. These initiatives were meticulously planned and executed by a dedicated team comprising Dr. Leo Deepak, Dr. Caren Rodrigues, Mr. Jena S, Mr. Chandrakanth, and CSR student coordinator Mr. Colin Pinto.These initiatives reflect SJIM’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability, ethics, and leadership into management education.
