08 December 2024

All the first year 300 PGDM students of SJIM, went through the Rural Immersion Program, organized by the various Social Action Centers run by the Karnataka Jesuit Province. Held in Hangal, Harihar, Sindhagi, and Bijapur, the program exposed students to rural life and promoted social awareness. Jesuits working in all these areas along with their collaborators gave the management students experience of the rural reality of India.

Various activities were conducted including students staying in the houses of people and having the first-hand experience of the hospitality and living with basic amenities. Hangal and Harihar: Socio-economic surveys, digital literacy skits, and activities in schools.

Bijapur: Surveys in slums, orphanage visits, and cultural programs. Sindhagi: Surveys and cultural activities with villagers and children. Students developed empathy and problem-solving skills, while communities benefited from awareness programs and creative engagements. This program embodies SJIM’s mission to foster socially conscious leaders.
The program was conducted 13-16 November and 27-30 November 2024 in different batches and places.
