MELAM 2K23, the enchanting festival of ONAM, arrived at SJIM on 20th September 2023 with a burst of colours and traditional fervour. The campus was alive with vibrant floral rangolis and captivating Pookalams, symbolizing unity and creativity. Students adorned themselves in resplendent traditional attire, transforming the college into a mini-Kerala.
Cultural performances took the center stage, by featuring mesmerizing dances like Thiruvadhira and Chenda Melam. These vibrant displays of talent showcase the beauty of Kerala's art forms. Traditional games and competitions like tug-of-war, uriyadi (pot-breaking) added excitement to the festivities and fostered a sense of camaraderie among students.
The heart of our Onam celebrations was the grand Onam Sadhya, a feast that celebrates Kerala's culinary heritage. On banana leaves, we savoured a gastronomic delight of over 20 delectable vegetarian dishes, from avial to payasam. It was a treat that tantalized the taste buds and brought the entire college community together.
Onam celebrations at St Joseph’s Institute of Management in Bangalore is a testament to the college's commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage. It's a time when students come together to not only celebrate a harvest festival but also to strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity. As the rhythmic beats of the traditional music reverberate through the campus and the aroma of the Onam Sadhya fills the air, it's evident that Onam at our college is a true celebration of culture, tradition, and togetherness.
