Being a Jesuit institution of higher learning, St Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) is very particular honouring the tradition and culture of the land. The celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava is a testimony to what SJIM stand for. A good number of Jesuits in Karnataka are notable Kannada literary figures like Fr C. C. A Pai, SJ, (Swami Supriya), Fr Prashanth Madtha, SJ, and many more.
The celebration of the feast of the land, Kannada Rajyotsava enabled students and faculty of other states to appreciate what Karnataka State stands for with its rich cultural legacy and art form. Having received seven Jnana Peeta awards for literature, Kannada is the second highest winner of awards in India.
The program of the day showcased colourful traditional yakshagana, resonating melodies, captivating dances, and insightful speeches,all but in Kannada. Shri Ganesh Batta, academic director of MES Group was the Chief Guest of the day. He enthralled the audience with his anecdotes and experiences with various Kannada literary figures. The students and supporting staff of SJIM made all the arrangements including decorations and program set up in the Basketball court.
