St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) organized an insightful guest lecture on “The Inspirational Paradigm” by Prof. Joe M. Phillips, Ex-Dean, Seattle University and Chair of AACSB Accreditation Committee. offering students a deeper understanding of the purpose of business and leadership in today’s dynamic world
Mr. Phillips encouraged students to view business not merely as a profit-generating activity, but as a noble vocation that carries responsibility toward society, respect for human dignity, and commitment to the common good. He stressed that in a world shaped by inequality, environmental concerns, and ethical challenges, leaders must go beyond technical expertise and cultivate reflection, discernment, and value-based decision-making.
Drawing from Jesuit and Ignatian traditions, he highlighted the importance of forming the whole person through management education—developing not only analytical and strategic competence but also empathy, integrity, and social responsibility. He emphasized that true success should be measured not only by financial performance but also by the positive impact created in communities and the environment.
The session concluded with a powerful call for purpose-driven leadership and sustainable practices, inspiring students to pursue professional excellence while remaining committed to ethical and socially responsible management.
