Enhancing Educational Excellence: Faculty Development Program at Loyola ITI Led by Fr. Olvin Veigas, SJ


On September 11, 2024, Fr. Olvin Veigas, SJ, a faculty member at St Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), Bangalore, led a half-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) for the teaching staff of Loyola Industrial Technical Institute (Loyola ITI), Bangalore. The session, attended by 16 lecturers, including the Principal, Ms. Mary Veronica, was aimed at enhancing professional development and fostering reflective teaching practices.

The event began with a warm welcome from Fr. Denzil Lobo, SJ, the Director of Loyola ITI, who introduced the resource person, Fr. Olvin Veigas. The program focused on three key themes:

1. Evaluating the Academic Year through SWOC Analysis:
Fr. Olvin encouraged the faculty to reflect on the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Challenges (SWOC) of the past academic year, promoting a structured approach to assessment and growth.

2. Reflective Practices of Professional Learning:
The importance of continuous learning and self-reflection in professional growth was emphasized, urging educators to adopt reflective practices to enhance their teaching methodologies.

3. Planning for the New Academic Year:
Fr. Olvin concluded the session by helping the faculty strategize for the upcoming academic year, offering insights into goal-setting and action plans to ensure a productive and successful year ahead.

The interactive program provided an opportunity for educators to critically assess their performance and engage in thoughtful planning for the future, ensuring that Loyola ITI continues to thrive as a center of learning and development.
