Dr. Caren Rodrigues, Associate Professor at St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), Bangalore, recently met with Pope Francis as one of thirty-four members of the Assembly of Representatives for the Economy of Francesco (EoF) foundation. This unique economic movement, initiated by Pope Francis, promotes a fair and inclusive economic model that respects the environment and addresses the needs of the marginalized.

Dr. Caren, representing India and one of only five Asian members, shared insights from her active involvement in EoF, including her work as a research coordinator and representative of the India hub. During the meeting in Rome, Pope Francis expressed gratitude for her dedication, especially for her thoughtful gift of a statue of Our Lady of Vailankanni from India.

Dr. Caren acknowledges her mentors and the support of SJIM's Karnataka Jesuit Province for empowering her to contribute meaningfully to EoF’s global mission. She aims to strengthen this vision of a just economy in her role within the Assembly. Since 2022, as Research Fellow at the Economy of Francesco Academy, Dr. Caren has produced eight research papers on themes resonating with the EoF.
