From Campus to Corporate: An Alumni-Led Placement Preparation Programme

St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) organized “From Campus to Corporate: An Alumni-Led Placement Preparation Programme” on 14 August 2026 for the second-year PGDM students. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between campus learning and corporate expectations by providing students with practical insights into recruitment, interviews, resumes, LinkedIn profiles, professional etiquette, and the skills expected of management graduates.

The distinguished panel comprised Mr. Chidananda Murthy, Vice President – People and Culture, Routematic; Mr. Steve Mathias, Human Resources Director, Volvo Group; Ms. Shwetha Kalappa, Senior Executive Vice President & Head – HR, Corporate and Tech, Kotak Mahindra Bank; Ms. Nazanine Apte, Associate Manager II, Lumen Technologies; and Mr. Deepak Rajanna, Chief Product Officer, SatSure.

The session was moderated by Ms. Shainy Manisha Pinto, Alumni Coordinator, who guided the discussion on placement preparation and evolving corporate expectations. Rev. Dr. Roshan David Pereira SJ, Director, SJIM, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of professionalism, continuous self-development, values, and a willingness to learn. A key highlight was the live mock interview, which provided students with a realistic experience of the recruitment process, followed by constructive feedback on communication, body language, response structure, and interview techniques. The programme also featured a rapid-fire round and an interactive Q&A session.

The programme equipped students with practical knowledge, greater confidence, and a clearer understanding of recruiter expectations, preparing them for a successful transition from campus to corporate life.
