An international business plan competition on “Developing a financially sustainable and technologically feasible and scalable business idea that will bring meaning back into the workplace” was organized jointly by St. Joseph’s Institute of Management and the Albers School of Business and Economics, Seattle University, USA over 5 months between October 2025 and March 2026.

The competition opened for registration in October 2025. Thereafter, students at St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM, India), Albers School of Business and Economics (Seattle University, USA), Regis University (USA), Santa Clara University (USA), ITESO (Mexico), and Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines) collaborated in virtual teams. Together, they harnessed the different countries’ technical and social expertise towards solving this serious problem.

Three finalist teams were shortlisted by a Global Panel of judges including Dr. Roberta Sferrazzo (Associate Professor of Organization Studies & Ethics, Audencia Business School, France), and Mr. Emanuele Mendola (a Digital Adoption and Change Management enthusiast).

The final round of this competition was held on 12/13 March 2026 on a virtual platform. This year the final round was hosted live by SJIM. The finalist teams presented their b-plans to a three-member panel of judges hailing from different parts of the world and who brought their own special areas of expertise to bear on the competition. This final-round jury consisted of Fr. Cedric Prakash (a well-known human rights, reconciliation and peace activist/trainer, with a focus on advocacy), and Mr. Naveen Tom Alex (organization and workforce transformation leader at Tredence). The finalist teams also fielded a set of very challenging questions from the jury.

The team comprising of Minjin Bayarkhuu (Albers, USA), Aparna Sahu (SJIM, India), Deepika M.P. (SJIM, India) and Goodwin Tirkey (SJIM, India) were the winners of this competition.
