India observes its 75th Independence Day this year and St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) promoted nationalism and patriotism towards the nation along with the chief guest - Group Captain Aaron Hurtis to remember the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and also to teach our fellow citizens the honour we must have and the respect we must build towards our nation.
The Student Council welcomed Rev. Father Dr Manoj D’Souza & Captain Hurtis and paved the way for them to hoist the Indian National Flag. SJIM Choir Team led the event by singing the national anthem along with the patriotic song - Maa Tuje Salaam
Chief Guest Group Captain Hurtis is commissioned into the Indian Air Force in the Aeronautical Engineering branch stationed at Jalahalli, Bengaluru. He is an alumnus of BITS Pilani, where he qualified MS in Quality Management in 2013. Captain Hurtis, spoke about how great our nation is and how significant it is for students to be responsible to not only carry forward the heritage and history of this great nation but also to contribute largely for all the future development of India.
SJIM Cultural Team performed a stunning dance, portraying the beauty of this nation which literally moved people to feel patriotism in their hearts. The event came to end with a simple yet powerful vote of thanks by Ivan Joel.
