St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) celebrated its 27 th Convocation Day on 27 th April
2024. The evening began with the lighting of the lamp and the inter-religious prayer by readings
from different religious scriptures. Rev. Dr Manoj D’Souza SJ, Director, welcomed the gathering
and presented the annual report, outlined how the past year turned out to be an extraordinary one
that posed unique challenges and opportunities for both students and the institute.
In the year 2023-2024, SJIM continued to reach greater heights. Dr. D’Souza pointed out in his
Annual Report that SJIM has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
The Indian government-authorized Association of Indian Universities (AIU) also recognized
SJIM’s PGDM program as equivalent to an MBA. In addition, SJIM is ranked among the top
business schools in the Ministry of Education’s NIRF rankings 2022-23.
Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province (of the Society of Jesus) and
Chairman of SJIM’s Governing Council presided the event. 177 students received Post Graduate
Diplomas in Management (PGDM). In his address, Fr Vaz reminded that the outgoing students
are the pillars of Jesuit education. They are equipped with Academic Excellence, Character
formation and Social concern, which the students should also use it for the development of
society, the marginalized and nation building.
Mr. Viswanath PS, MD and CEO of Randstad, India, delivered the Convocation Address. He
imparted several valuable pieces of advice to the students: to embrace mundane tasks with a
positive attitude, to pursue excellence and develop resilience, to engage in lifelong skill
development, to make oneself invaluable to the organization and to make a difference to society
through their profession. Finally, he reminded them that success requires hard work, and lots of
it.
